It's very quiet!!!!

This little freezer has quite a bit of space given its size, but the most impressive part of this freezer by far is how quiet it is. Upon plugging it in and powering it up, not a sound could be heard and no vibrations could be felt when touching it. We actually tested the outlet because we thought maybe we had a bad outlet. After two hours, I went to go unplug it and prepare to ship it back for a refund to find the inside incredibly cold and doing what it should be. Still without sound or vibration!

The reviews were low but I wanted to learn more as it was the perfect size for what I needed. Independently I learned about 'ambient temperature.' This would be very important as other reviewers said "motor died" after short time. I called the manufacturer to ask about "ambient temperature.' She didn't know, but would ask supervisor. Got my answer & stayed with my intention of keeping it in the house. If the placement location temperature is between 50 & 100 degrees, it will work fine. If it goes under or over, for a while, then the motor will work too hard to keep at your setting & die. It can't take those temperatures. Garages or sheds, unless insulated get too hot (So. Calif.), other areas it might be too cold. I hope you learned something from my efforts. Keep my fingers crossed and the motor is not defective, no matter where I put it. Also no power light to let you know it's on and no inside light but that's OK. Bought a little hanging freezer thermometer. Oh, yes it's VERY quiet.

Great so far!!!

This was delivered to my front door and left, but turned out I could move it with a hand cart into my garage. It's size is perfect for the space I have for it and so far its worked great! I really like that it has 4 baskets at the top to store easy to get to food - which was one reason I had not bought a chest freezer before.

I have kept it at 3 so far and that has kept everything nice and frozen. Its very quiet and I like that there are so many levels of temp control.

It was a little expensive but when you compare the features and the free shipping etc I think its worth the money.

I haven't tried it yet but you can also write on the top which will be great when I get beef delivered to keep track of dates, cuts, etc. I have the black model.

Game changer!

This chest freezer was a life saver! My boyfriend and I kept overstuffing our fridge and kept having to call maintenance to fix our frosted over freezer. We decided it was time to get a chest freezer since we like to buy our meat wholesale and this thing has done an excellent job at keeping up pounds upon pounds of seafood, pork belly, steaks, shortribs, etc(literally if you can think of it, we probably have it ??). I ended up covering it with wallpaper stickers so it could match our countertops and cabinets.

One thing that really did bug us (no fault of the seller possibly) was that we requested it to be delivered to our door and instead they left it in the locker rooms. It was too big to fit in my Honda Civic so we had to go out and rent a dolley from Home Depot to bring it up to our apartment. The box was too wide for either of us to carry(and I’m just hopelessly weak). I’m sure the delivery people are equipped to bring these kinds of packages up.. ??)

And when we finally opened it, there was a big dent on the side of the vent! And it had caught on the wire so we had to yank it out to plug it into the wall. :( we covered it with tape because we already went through so much effort to bring it up and wasn’t about to repackage it and send it back.

Besides the little flaw and unfortunate happenings, this thing really comes through at holding a ton of food!

Great small freezer

I have only had this freezer for two weeks but it seems far better than the one that was replaced which died after two years. the Avanti is only $30 dollars more and .4 cubic feet bigger but it seems to be a much more professional piece of equipment than the other brand. The temperature control appears to be far more precise and at only 2.5 cubic feet it seems to hold twice as much as the 2.1 cubic foot one. The layout is superior so more of the space is available. This one is a top loader while the old one was a front loader. Thus, I have a rather deep well which can accomodate a lot of items. The interior is covered by a kind of shiny fabric that seems to me to be similar to wallpaper, so one should be careful to avoid using a scraper. There is a drain at the bottom for defrosting which should make it easy to clean. I have the thing sitting on a large pan with a one inch lip. Best of all it has small rollers on the bottom which makes it very easy to move. It is also quiet and it appears to be off much of the time but still keeps things rock solid at the mid level temperature.

Great deal even though it dents easily. So far so good.

For the money, this freezer is really great! I've had it for about 10 days. It was inexpensive and it fits my space perfectly. It gets really cold and freezes things more quickly than the freezer on my fridge.

All the other reviews on this brand say that it showed up with some damage/denting. Mine was no exception. I think it's just made with a thinner steel than the more expensive brands. I could really care less, since there was about a $300 price difference. It was also one of the only ones I could get in the 5.5 cf range that came in black.

If your looking to purchase a chest freezer this seller actually has them in stock (at least at the time of this review). If your hesitant just contact them before purchasing, they respond within 24 hours.

I ordered two freezers, a 5 cu ft for my mom and a 3.5 cu ft for myself. I ordered these Sunday 9/27 and we both got them on Saturday 10/3, original delivery date was between 10/5 to 10/13. My mom's came in mint condition, mine's with a slight dent/scratch on corner but otherwise perfect. Being that I've been looking for chest freezers since July...I could care less about the dent; it doesn't take away the clean look of the freezer nor does it affects it's functioning. This freezer is quiet and does get cold fairly fast however still follow the directions and let it run for 24 hours before putting anything in.

Now the price of the freezers were a little higher than I originally wanted to spend but they were no higher than the others I've seen on Amazon and with COVID-19...supply and demand. All in all I am very happy with my purchases, and I would buy again. I'll update this review if anything goes wrong with them...if there's no update assume both freezers are working just fine.??

So far I'm very impressed!

Freezer was well packaged and arrived with no shipping damage. It looks great. It was easy to move it into place and install it. After letting it settle for 6 hours I plugged it in.

This freezer happened to arrive on a day when my region saw record high temperatures. I was installing the freezer in a garage-type space with very little temperature protection. The room was 90°F when I nervously plugged the freezer in. The amazing thing? It was keeping ice frozen solid only 6 hours after plugging it in! That's a good freezer. One day later-- more record high temps-- the room temp is 90°F again and everything is keeping just fine, including ice cream!

I'm also impressed by how quiet this freezer is. I was expecting it to be much louder and I'm very happy it's not.

I am curious to see how well it holds up during the cold months, when the room will occasionally drop to 20-30°F. As others have pointed out, the printed manual conflicts with the information in this listing and says the freezer cannot handle these temperatures. Danby says the printed manual is simple for another model, and the freezer is in fact garage ready. So far it passed the hot weather test! If it doesn't pass the cold weather test this winter, I'll update my review.

If you're looking for an affordable garage-ready chest freezer I doubt you could do any better than this.

Thin Walls, Came Dented

The deep freeze is compact but seems to be deep and cold enough to do the job in small spaces. I love that part. It chilled off very quickly after plugging up and maintains temp. As with many other reviews, my big complaint is that this item arrived scratched and dented. The manufacturer needs to use sturdier contraction materials to avoid this, and the packing needs to include some padding between the front of the freezer and the box. It would be a simple fix. Seems to be a common issue though. If you don’t mind the dents, then it will do the job. I just expect more for the price.

WORKS GREAT WITH MY 700 WATT SOLAR POWER STATION

I got this freezer to use with a solar power station during power outages. We lost all of our food three times last year because of bad storms. I tested this freezer with a 50 amp hour 700 watt power station and it works perfectly to keep my food frozen. To extend the run time you can put a timer in the circuit to only run the freezer every four hours for 30 minutes but this depends on the temperature in your location. If you have a way to recharge with solar this won`t be an issue. This freezer has more storage space than I thought and is perfect for my needs.
